Worried beer fans flood Sussex brewer

Mid Sussex based brewer, Dark Star was inundated earlier this week when the pub trade and the real ale enthusiasts heard rumours of the demise of their business.
The rumours started following a press statement appeared on several leading drinks trade web sites announcing that Dark Star was “in administration”.
Paul Reed, director of the brewery was, at first bemused, and then presumed it was a practical joke until that was, he was sent the web site link. The truth was that the unrelated, Scottish based bar operator, Dark Star Scotland had indeed gone into administration. “We’re very sorry about businesses failing during this recession and my sympathy goes to those who will have lost their jobs, but I still can’t help but be amazed and flattered at how worried our customers and consumers were.” said Reed.
In a very supportive email from their local MP, Nicholas Soames, after being assured that the brewery was enjoying profitable growth, said with confidence “It would never occur to me that it would have been you; the quality of your beer is so good that your business will I know continue to prosper and I wish it every success”.

A local spokesperson for the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) commented “There was a sharp intake of breath when we heard the news, it would be unthinkable to loose the second biggest brewer in Sussex and one that alongside Harveys of Lewes, has given so much to making Sussex the delight of enthusiasts for quality and variety of beers”.
