With just a few days to go, we thought we’d give you a quick run down on what’s what for Hopfest this weekend. We’re now into our 4th year – and just like rings on a tree trunk, we’ve got the wrinkles to prove it. That being said, we really love this event – and even more, we love the opportunity to raise as much money as possible for our Charitable Foundation. (More details here: http://www.darkstarbrewing.co.uk/foundation)
So here we go…
The brewery, Star Road, Star Road Trading Estate, Partridge Green, RH13 8RA
Saturday 11am - 6pm
Sunday 11am - 6pm
How do you get there?
Well, there are a myriad of transport opportunities available to you, from the avant garde coach and horses, through to the extravagant helicopter – but, if you don’t have access to a fleet of vehicles, we’re putting on some bus transport.
Our bus will be picking up from Hayward’s Heath Station and Buck Barn at the times below. If you are using the bus, we just ask that you make a small contribution towards the Dark Star Charitable Foundation:
If you’re travelling from Horsham, or Brighton, the 17 bus will run regularly on Saturday and Sunday. You can find the times here: http://www.buses.co.uk/travel/service.aspx?serviceId=1236
If you are driving, there is plenty of parking available around the trading estate. We just politely ask that you do not block entry and exit points for our neighbouring businesses.
As always, you don’t need to buy a ticket beforehand. Just roll up and make your £5.00 donation to the Dark Star Charitable Foundation. In return you’ll get a pint of beer or a glass of wine, some great live music, and what we hope will be a fitting tribute to Green Hop season, and dare we say it, the end of Summer.
Food & Drink
This year, we’ll feature something for everyone. From freshly made burgers to sausage rolls and cheese plates – we hope you’ll enjoy having something to wash a few beers down with.
This year is our most adventurous ever when it comes to the bar. Last year we had two bars – this year….THREE. Starting with a tank fresh bar serving Hophead and Green Hopped IPA fresh from the…er, tank. Next to that will be a cask bar, serving some fantastic locally sourced beers from the likes of Downlands, Ramsgate and Rother Valley. Our third bar? Well, we’re pretty excited about this one, but with a bit of luck and an easterly wind, we’ll have a keg serve bar in the yard, serving beers from Beavertown, Tiny Rebel and more. Alongside ALL of the beer, there will be a selection of wine, prosecco and soft drinks available. It will be a cash only bar, so make sure to bring a bit of pocket money with you, as all profits got to charity.
We have quite the selection for you this year. Saturday will see the debut of cigar box guitar legends Chickenbone John and Hollowbelly, whilst Sunday sees the return of old favourites Dirty Spoons and Half Crown. Music will of course be hosted inside the brewery, and we hope you’ll enjoy a toe tap or two to some fantastic music from the local area.
Dogs, kids and glass
If you’ve ever drunk our beer, you’ve probably guessed by now that we aren’t big fans of rules. However, for Hopfest, we have just a few requests. Please feel free to bring along your dog – but we must ask that they remain out in the yard, as the brewery is a food production area, and we don’t want to annoy the people with the clipboards. Also, we need to keep any glass out of the brewery too.
Finally, if you want to bring along your little ones, you’ll be pleased to know that entry is free for children.
...is the official hashtag for this years event. So tag all your photos on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, and we'll pick the best one to receive a swag bag of DS goodies.
That seems to be all the t’s crossed and the lower case j’s dotted. We’ll update this post if we think of anything else.
All that’s left is to say that we look forward to seeing you, and raising some money for a great cause.
