After taking a short break, Spin Up is back by popular demand! Established in 2012, a collaboration between craft brewery Dark Star and local bicycle brand KinesisUK, Spin Up in a Brewery brings together Bikes, Beer and BBQ for a day of fun at the Dark Star. Attendees can either just come along and soak-up the fun with likeminded people or for those that want to play and win prizes they can compete in static bike racing. Get a feel for the day here.

THE RIDE OUTS (10AM MEET FOR 10.30 DEPART)

There will be at least three “ride-outs” for those wishing to join a suggested cycling route to the Dark Star Brewery in Partridge Green. The Mountain Bike / Gravel Bike route will start outside Brighton’s Stanmer Park Tea Rooms, the Road Ride route will start from outside Rule Five Bikes at Five Ways in Brighton and the Family/E-bike route will start outside the Giant Store in Shoreham.

MIDDAY - SPIN UP IN A BREWERY STARTS

Upon arrival and as part of your entry fee, you will be given a free pint of Dark Star. There will be bike parking (left at own risk) if you have cycled over and plenty of car parking if you have driven.

ROLLER RACING

Then you'll be encouraged to step-up and have a go at some roller racing - brought to you by South Coast Sprints. No matter how fit or unfit you are, it's addictive and there will be impromptu competitions and prizes going on throughout the day. Also, there will be some kids bike so all those from 10 yrs old and up will get a chance to race. A Top Gear style electronic leader-board for both adults and children will show who has bragging rights.

BBQ, BEERS AND BIKES

In between thrashing your mates at roller racing there will be a delicious BBQ going all day. It wouldn't be a proper trip to a brewery if there wasn't a fine selection of award winning ales for you to try and buy, so good job there is. There will also be a range of soft drinks and a free water station. Also showing off their products will be Kinesis UK Bikes, based right here in the same trading estate as Dark Star, and Lezyne, the world renowned cycle accessory brand.

LIVE MUSIC

Live music will be played through the day, you can expect a great vibe guaranteed.

THE FINALS

This is where the fastest 8 riders will race head to head in an eliminator to see who becomes the DARK STAR SPIN UP CHAMPION 2018. Of course, the best part of this is the heckling. Ahem, we mean supporting. Seeing people pedal as fast as they can, whilst you shout as much as you can, is a sport in its own right.

18:30PM - FINISH

All good things must come to an end. But not necessarily right now. If you want to keep the party going then we'll be heading to The Partridge pub around the corner.

Surely Saturday's don't get much better than that!

Tickets
This is a ticket only event and all entrants over 5 require a ticket. Children 5 and under can enter for free if accompanied by a ticket holding adult. All proceeds go to the Dark Star Foundation.

Ride Outs
The Ride Outs are intended as an informal way of getting groups together to head out rather than a signposted and supported 'Sportive'  type affair. They aren't guided but will have responsible cyclists placed withing the group to encourage and keep things together. So please familiarise yourself with the routes when they are launched and arrive at the rides prepared. The rides will be a social speed but please check the routes carefully in case you decide to bomb ahead or trundle behind. Also, please bring any tools, puncture repair stuff and water etc you may need as there will be no provision for this.

BIKE PARKING
There will be bike parking within the brewery yard. All bikes are left at the owner’s risk. If in doubt bring a lock.

GETTING BACK?
If you’re drinking, perhaps persuade a friend to pick you up…but no bikes to be left onsite after the event please.

DISCLAIMER
The organisers of Spin Up don't encourage drinking and riding. If entrants are drinking, they are urged to take advantage of friend’s goodwill to get them home.
